Home News for June

May 31, 2019

Ah, the end of the month. It means several things. It means that your books should be in order, it means that you should start preparing for the next month, and it means that you’re ready for another installment of home news for the VIC blog.

The VIC blog is a mainstay for the team at VIC Underpinners and it’s our calling card about our passion for reinforcing the foundation of your house and turning your house into a home. Once a month, we come together as an enthusiastic team and share exactly what’s going on in the home and landscaping industries. We aim to make the articles that we share engaging and informative. Here is the best of the last month:

Average Home Values See First Monthly Drop in 7 Years

While we never aim to share less than the happiest of news, we know that when we do – you’re set up for success. So, when the market is up – great! When it’s down – not so great, but you should know. This article discusses an update that average home values around the world have seen the first monthly drop in seven months. That may not seem like a long time to some, but for those who are investing, this can be pretty important information to have in your back pocket. To quote this article, “In April, national home values dropped a tenth of a percent from those in March, according to data from real estate information company Zillow. That’s not much, and zigzagging patterns in economic performance are hardly unusual. Except, it’s the first such downward motion in seven years, says senior economist Sarah Mikhitarian.” Check out this link for more information.

Tips for Keeping Your Home Secure While You Are on Vacation

Not trying to start a trend of conspiracy or worry, but home security is equally as important to the team. That’s why we were drawn to this article. It doesn’t matter what season it is – you’re going to want to take a vacation at some point. And the worst feeling in the world, is feeling like you can’t feel safe about your home, while you should be enjoying relaxation. It is reported that over 2,000,000 homes are broken into each year in the United States alone. Check out this link for more information.

Millennials and “Out of Home” TV

Finally, let’s talk about one of the most discussed generations of any of our times. We’re talking about millennials and they’re making a splash everywhere that they go. According to this write-up on Forbes – “A new report from Nielsen shows that while millennials lead the way when it comes to cord cutting, they’re still watching some traditional television… they just aren’t watching it at home.” This is important for new and experienced homeowners alike, as we navigate what both home livingship and tv-watchership look like (yes, both terms that we’ve made up). Remember that there are so many options out there. Check out this link for more information.
