What Home Renovation Projects Will You Complete This Year?January 31, 2018
Sigh. The holidays are complete. In fact, we’re in the throes of 2018. We’re willing to bet that it’s going to be a fun and exciting year ahead. If this is one of your first times visiting the VIC Underpinners blog, we welcome you to the family! You need go no further to find any information related to restumping, underpinning and reblocking. In fact, we tend to branch out from there, waxing lyrical about our passions in home renovations, landscaping and even interior design. The bottom line? The VIC Underpinners team is here to inspire, drive and support any home renovation projects that you have on your to-do list.
We’re willing to bet that a popular topic has come up between you and your friends, colleagues and families. What popular topic is this? That would be your plan for the year ahead. We’re not just talking about vacations, family milestones or even physical goals – although we’re definitely cheering you on, on that next marathon that you’re thinking about. No, our prowess sits within the home renovation projects that have been sitting on the to-do list just a little bit too long.
You’re not alone. The VIC Underpinners team has goals upon goals for 2018, and many of them revolve around projects that we’ve been meaning to get after. So, let’s be accountability buddies. We challenge you to continue to check back in on the VIC Underpinners site and keep a steady eye on the work that we execute on. In return, we’re here to help shape your to-do list for the coming months and ensure that you’re on top of your A-game.
There are a couple of things that we recommend keeping in mind. The first and foremost should be your budget. There’s no magic number and you’ll want to do your research. We recommend that you sync with those closest to you that have completed similar projects. Ask what they spent and what the surprise costs occurred at the last moment. Let’s focus on that last part. Make sure that you have a buffer. If you come in under that buffer, then you’ve saved some money. If you haven’t, at least you’ve planned ahead. The worst feeling in the world is half-way completing a project and learning that you’re now at a standstill.
The other big piece is the timeline. Many assume that home renovation projects displace the occupants of the home, and that’s why they put these projects off for months and months. Especially if you work with VIC Underpinners, this is not the case. But do plan ahead exactly how much energy you can allocate to your projects. You want to make sure that they’re done right and you want to be able to weigh in at all of the right points. So keep an eye on your schedule. Do you have a big project coming up? Some global travel which will make you inaccessible? These are all things to keep in mind.
