Making the Most of Your Summer Outdoors

Making the Most of Your Summer Outdoors

March 7, 2018

Sigh. It happens every year, but that doesn’t make it any easier. We’re not talking about taxes, and we’re not talking about spring cleaning, we’re talking about the end of summer. It’s a sad, sad time (unless you have a dozen kids that you’re ready to send back to school), but hopefully that’s because you’ve had a wonderful summer. It was one for the books, with record temperatures. Here at VIC Underpinners, we had a host of adventures. We’ve captured them in photos and in memories and now we’re looking forwards to the season ahead. It’s time for fall foliage, for warm beverages and even warmer coats, but not before we send the summer off with a bang.

If you’re newer to the VIC Underpinners site, welcome! We’re excited to have you here. If you’re familiar with our inner workings, you know that this is a great one-stop-shop for all things related to foundation reinforcement. But our expertise and our passion goes beyond that. We’re well-versed in verandas, in decks, in porches and the design of exterior areas. All of these have something in common, they’re pretty ideal for weather like ours right now. We hope that you’re hanging out on them. Either way, here are some of our best tips to making the most of your summer outdoors:

Throw a party

This seems like the most obvious check off of the list, doesn’t it? The question is how to navigate it. Have fun with a theme and ensure that the food and drinks follow suit. String lights above your outdoor deck or garden so that you can see the ladies and gentlemen that you’re conversing with.

Have a picnic

In no time at all, you won’t be able to eat outside. You’ll be quarantined to four walls and the outside will be filled with rain and inclement weather. Luckily, that’s not the case just yet. So, grab your picnic blanket and basket and head out back (or side) (or front) of your house. Picnics can be as low key as you want and can be filled with your favourite foods. All that matters is the good company around you.

Head to an outdoor concert

There’s something about music in the fresh air. It amplifies it, it enhances the experience and it ensures that you’ll have memories for years to come. Check out google for concerts near you. They can be of the highest magnitude or more intimate get-togethers. Some of the most famous concerts in history have been in the warmest and most beautiful months of the year.

Get active

Let’s be honest, nobody wants to take the kids to the park or head out on a hike when the temperatures start sinking. That’s why now is the best time to do it. It doesn’t matter how athletic you are, as long as your heart rate gets up there and you enjoy the sun, you can call it a good day.
