Quick Wins that Add Value to your Home

Quick Wins that Add Value to your Home

October 31, 2018

The VIC Underpinners team knows that it’s a competitive market, especially in our surrounding areas. We want to set you up for success so that when the time comes to move or sell your home, your home will be the best it can be. Not all of us have endless budgets to spend on projects to turn our houses to dream homes, but luckily for the visitors of this blog, you have a different kind of tool which should prove just as valuable. We set up this blog as an outlet of our passion for our business, which knows no bounds. We got into the restumping, reblocking and underpinning because we knew that we could bring the best products and services to the industry. We also knew that in order to be successful, we needed to know as much as possible about everything related to homes and that’s what we’re discussing today. So even if you don’t have the cash saved to do an entire home remodel, here are some quick wins that can add value to your home:

Build up

The best way to take advantage of your square footage if you have some money to spare is to build up. This may be a totally new floor or it just might be a lofted space. Either way, you’re already making your home more appealing to families of larger sizes and giving yourself more ground to work with. This renovation can be inspired by any number of life changes or hobby additions – you could even put in a home gym.

Make your garage liveable

If you have a single or multiple car garage that currently only serves as space for your vehicles (or doesn’t even do that), feel free to get creative here. You can put in a space specific for you to get away from the rest of the family and it doesn’t need to cost much. Just think about the elements that you’d love to have in your home to support your daily routines but don’t necessarily go with your architecture or décor.

Take a look from the curb

Curb appeal is important for the resale of any home because it’s the first thing that prospective homebuyers will see. Don’t be afraid to have a keen eye here. Just take a step back and look at your home with the most objective (and critical eye). Do you need to update your plants around the perimeter? Do you need to paint your shutters or your entire home? Do you need to replace windows or do you see opportunities for where it would make the most sense to add on to your home? Great! Follow your gut and have fun with the project.

As always, the takeaways are consistent: make sure that you’re planning properly, doing your homework and putting together budgets. And as always, take advantage of the VIC Underpinners team. We’re here for you every day, by phone, email or in person.
